This post is part of a series on Chicagoland Parks. You can read more about how we are finding the woods while living in the city here. You can read all of the posts in this series here. We like to explore new parks and forest preserves when ever we can, so it was exciting to make the trip out to Chain O Lakes State Park. Even though Spring is upon us, we still find that many of the forest preserves and State Parks are unattended, giving us plenty of space to roam and have the dog off the leash. With over 15 miles of hiking, biking or horse trails, there was plenty for us to do and still more for us to explore later. This State Park is well worth the drive from Chicago and is the perfect spot for a nice day family outing.
