Favorite DIY Books and Blogs

My RSS reader is FULL of DIY blogs, but these are my favorites.   I look forward to each new post and you will too - go show them some love!

Young House Love (Blog)

Is there any DIY'er who doesn't follow them?  This couple posts consistently and shares everything about their home and book tour.  Their homes look amazing and they do 95% of the work themselves (only major renovations get contracted out) and on a budget.  Plus they have the cutest little daughter and dog.  If you haven't checked them out yet, you're really missing out.  Click here to visit their site.

Young House Blog (Book)

This is not just a book version of their blog.  There are totally original projects to use second hand materials or items from the hardware store to create an awesome living space.  I've read it cover-to-cover and totally recommend it.  Click here to learn more.

Bower Power (Blog)

BFFs with Young House Love and just as handy when it comes to DIY.  An adorable couple with even cuter kiddos.  But somehow they still find time to DIY every week.  Click here to visit their site.

Ana White (Blog)

Hundreds of free plans to build just about any piece of furniture you need for your home.  Plans range from beginner to advanced and I've used several of them with awesome results.  Oh, and she's building a duplex with her husband for their mothers.  They call it the momplex and they are very literally building it from the ground up.  In Alaska.  Bonus: I met her at a book signing and she is as sweet as can be.  Click here to visit her site.

Ana White - The Handbuilt Home (Book)

TONS of plans and ideas for building everything in and out of your home.  I've built a few of the plans from the book and I'm a beginner.  The plans were easy to follow and much more affordable than buying the same piece of furniture at a store.  Click here to learn more.

Domestic Imperfection (Blog)

Tons of creative furniture makeovers and home renovations, on a budget.  And she keeps it real.  You see the fails too and her adorable kids are usually crawling around in at least one photo in her post.  Her amazing projects are what drove me to her site, but her positive attitude is what makes me truly look forward to each post.  Click here to visit her site.

Shanty 2 Chic (Blog)

These two sisters make building projects look easy and doable.  They built everything in their homes from the bedframes to the kitchen tables and everything in between.  They often use Ana White plans too so it makes everything that much easier to recreate at home.  They also have tons of free printables and ideas for affordable DIY gifts.  Click here to visit their site.

Broke Ass Home (Blog)

This is a newer blog, but I'm already hooked.  They post consistently and keep it real.  They are remodeling their home on a budget and they're just getting started, but I can tell that they will have a big following soon enough.  Plus they have three dogs.  You know I love people with pooches!  Click here to visit their site.
